Yacopsae / Atrofia Cerebral "split" LP

$14.99

When Yacopsae played in Lima, Peru in 2023, they were insistent on a special request: they wanted to play with the noisecore classics Atrofia Cerebral. A special request indeed, since Atrofia Cerebral so rarely plays live. But who can say no to Stoffel??? So Atrofia Cerebral played, and hands were shaken to release the recorded live audio as a split tape.

...which wound up not happening quite as expected, so now we're doing a split 12" instead yay!!

Atrofia Cerebral are Peru's great noise export. From 1989 to now, they have never deviated from making relentless and bludgeoning noisecore, an audio expression of nihilism wrapped in images of carnage and death. Bleak expressions for two of the sweetest guys in the game. That's why I love it.
Their side is 35 tracks in 10 minutes, pure fuckin NOISE, only blastbeats, dysfunctional guitar, and vocals from the caves of hell.

Yacopsae are one of the best punk bands ever and one of my favorite bands since I was a kid. From 1990 to now, they have never deviated from making relentless and bludgeoning hardcore. Hardcore that's so fucking relentless, so fucking bludgeoning, that they're ascribed everything from grindcore to power violence to death metal. I think many people don't realize that hardcore can actually be this fast, this tight, this brutal. But Yacopsae have proven it can, finding the upper boundaries of what bands like Larm and Rapt began exploring. Pure speed noise destruction, headed by a true hardcore maniac with one of the most impeccable and impressive memories for punk that I've ever encountered.
Their side is 8 tracks, 10 minutes, of a 1999 studio demo session that finds Yacopsae flirting with Bolt Thrower, Corrupted, and Sleep influences filtered through their iconic fast hardcore style.
